With over 30 years of experience in music, Soledad Guerrero incorporates elements of rock and trova in her songs. Not only does she compose songs for her own albums, but is well known for her compositions for other artists, especially in songs related to romantic music.

She began her career, performing on the television show “Sábados Gigantes” throughout the eighties, along with other performers like Luis Jara and Myriam Hernández. She released her first solo work sharing the authorship with Alberto Plaza on the album Soledad (1993), which included one of her most famous hits Aprendí de Ti. She toured the album throughout Latin America which also included the song Cariño Mío. This song was heard throughout Bogotá, Medellín and Cali, as it was featured in a competition held by a Colombian radio station called «Sing with Soledad».

She traveled to Miami to record Yo Soy Sol (2001), an album which was very influenced by rock music. She even recorded it with the rock band The Dezeus and recorded a version of Walk on the Wild Side by Lou Reed for the album. For this work she received the highest award given by the Chilean journalism industry, the Apes Prize.

It took seven years to publish her next album Edad del Sol (2008), for which she invited Pablo Herrera and Alexis Venegas to record some duets, showing her collaborative spirit. This work earned her the award for Best Composer and Performer at the International festival Festivegas, in Las Vegas.

She has written many songs for several diverse artists in Chile and abroad: Andrea Tessa, Eduardo Gatti, Cecilia Echenique, La Mafia, among others. She has also composed the theme music for several Chilean soap operas, one of them –My Candy Favorito– is a duet with Sergio Carrizo, that can be heard now in the TVN soap opera El Amor lo Manejo Yo.

En el despuntar de los años 60’s y como muchos cantantes de su generación, Palmenia Pizarro comenzó su carrera en radio. Asustada en un principio de que con los boleros y valses peruanos que interpretaba no tendría espacio en una era en la que empezaba a tomar fuerza el rock and roll y el twist, Palmenia se sorprendió al ver que su música resultó ser un éxito, pues al momento que editaba su primer LP, Qué Lindo Canta Palmenia (1965) llenó el santiaguino Teatro Caupolicán en 1964. Ese disco incluía el éxito “Cariño Malo”, original de Augusto Polo Campos, que es el bolero por excelencia con que se identifica a Palmenia Pizarro y que tanto ha influenciado a intérpretes chilenos y extranjeros, transformándose en un referente de un estilo único dentro de la música romántica.

En los años setenta comenzaría la conquista latinoamericana y su inminente radicación en México. Amplió el catálogo temático, incluyendo en su repertorio diversas canciones de raíz folclórica, como  la argentina “Sapo Cancionero”. Palmenia Pizarro pudo darles una interpretación absolutamente original, al adaptarlas al bolero o al vals peruano. Así  la cantante se abrió camino para grabar en varios países, desde Japón a Brasil. Tanto el 2002 como el 2012 hizo shows multitudinarios en Chile celebrando los 40 y 50 años de carrera respectivamente, en los cuales Palmenia Pizarro demostró que su popularidad y carisma permanecen intactas.

In the early sixties, just as other singers of her generation, Palmenia Pizarro started her career on radio stations. In a time where rock and roll and twist were kings, she was scared of not having a space because she sang boleros and peruvian valses. But Palmenia Pizarro was happily surprised when her music was nothing but hits.

After she released several singles that paved her career to popularity, she performed in a crowded Caupolicán Theater (an important venue in Santiago) in 1964. The same year she had released her first LP called Qué Lindo Canta Palmenia (Palmenia Sings so Beautiful). The album included the hit single “Cariño Malo” (“Mean Darling”), original of Augusto Polo Campos, from Peru. That bolero is the quintessential song that identifies Palmenia Pizarro‘s music and it influenced so many chilean and foreign singers. She has a unique style that became a referent to latin romantic music.

During the seventies she started her Latin American conquer and her imminent establishment in Mexico. She expanded her repertoire, including diverse folk rooted songs, like the argentinean “Sapo Cancionero”. Palmenia Pizarro was able to give the songs an absolutely original interpretation, as she adapted them to bolero and peruvian valses style. That’s how the singer was invited to record in various countries from Brazil to Japan.

Both years on 2002 and 2012 Palmenia Pizarro did massive concerts in Chile to celebrate her 40 and 50 years in the stages, respectively. In those shows she demonstrated that her popularity and charisma remain intact.

With her dramatic intensity and richness of her vocal timbre, Veronica Villarroel is one of the most prestigious singers- actresses in the world. The chilean soprano studied at the Julliard School singing academy, thanks to the intervention of Renata Scotto who discovered her in the Municipal Theater of Santiago. In 1990 he sang with Placido Domingo in Santiago de Chile for the first time, and have since made numerous operas, concerts and recordings worldwide, being a guide and teacher up to date. Together they recorded the CD and DVD El Gato Montes y Gold & Silver Gala from Covent Garden.

Madame Butterfly’s Cio Cio became a recurring role of her career at theaters such as Tokyo, Toulouse and Dallas. The opera Alzira, moreover opened a chain of Verdi rarities in the repertoire of Verónica, totaling 13 roles to date. Her operas repertoire at New York Metropolitan Opera House include: Pagliacci, La Traviata, Madama Butterfly and Carmen, among others. Her participation in Il Trovatore at Covent Garden (London) with José Cura and Dmitri Hvorostovsky, was released on DVD for the BBC.

From 2007 she has offered various concerts dedicated to popular music with pop-symphonic arrangements, (covers of Roberto Carlos, Manzanero, Julio Iglesias, among others), songs that two years later were released in her album Cuando Estoy Contigo (When I’m With You), winner of a gold record in Chile. After the earthquake in Chile in 2010, Veronica Villarroel produced very significant concerts, such as, at ground zero point in Talcahuano (south of Chile), at the Teatro Municipal de Santiago, and also worldwide: St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York and Madrid.

Con su segunda placa, Valiente (con el apoyo de Barry Sage en la producción musical, con el equipo de Mapa Records y un vasto núcleo de músicos amigos), con giras por todo Chile, España, Argentina y Uruguay, a sus 26 años se postula como uno de los grandes cancionistas de la generación de la segunda nueva canción chilena, con miles y miles de seguidores de todo el mundo de habla hispana.

Carlos Alberto Nito Mestre es un músico argentino, conocido por ser la voz principal y guitarrista del famoso dúo Sui Generis, junto a Charly García.​ A mediados de los años sesenta mientras cursaba sus estudios secundarios en el Instituto Social Militar Dr. Dámaso Centeno (Buenos Aires) conoció al músico Charly García, y al principio ninguna empresa discográfica se interesó por el grupo, hasta que en 1972 Pierre les presentó al productor Jorge Álvarez, uno de los fundadores de la discográfica independiente Mandioca. En 1974, Sui Generis no era el tímido dúo acústico que había debutado dos años atrás, para este proceso trabajaron en los estudios una vez más bajo la supervisión de Billy Bond. Con el paso de los años, Charly García y Nito Mestre decidieron decir adiós en su último recital en el Luna Park en 1975. Durante el show se grabó la película Adiós Sui Géneris. Después de la separación de Sui Generis se creó el grupo PorSuiGieco por María Rosa Yorio (esposa de Charly García) un grupo con mucha repercusión y éxitos en esos tiempos. Durante algunos años Nito Mestre tuvo problemas con el alcohol, debiendo ser internado en 1996.

The female band Mamma Soul came together in 1998 with a need to communicate the experience of women’s lives through their members. They received a Gold Disc in Chile for sales of their debut album Fe (Faith 2001, EMI), and collaborated on various tribute albums such as «Tributo a Los Prisioneros«, «Después de Vivir un Siglo: Tributo a Violeta Parra» and «Generaciones: Dos Épocas en Dueto«. At this time, they received two important Chilean music awards – Apes in 2001, and Altazor in 2002. That very same year, Mamma Soul were nominated for an MTV award in the category of best video. They also traveled to Los Angeles, California, for the ceremony of the Latin Grammy award for which they were nominated in the category of Best Group Album.

Their musical colorfulness and strength continues to grow, and is characterized by their beautiful voices and harmonies. Their lyrics have a strong social content, portraying closely their visions of the world.

The group disbanded in 2004, but four years later the girls decided to get together again, and added some new members to their crew. Currently, after 14 years since the first line-up, the group consists of Michèle Espinoza (guitar and vocals), Jeannette Pualuan (vocals), Natalie Santibañez (bass), Fernanda Fuentes (drums) and Marcela Vergara (a.k.a.: Mars Keys) (keyboards and piano).

Mamma Soul finally released their second album Raza in 2012, and continue singing to, and enchanting a faithful audience that already encompasses more than a generation.

«La carrera de la compositora e intérprete Francesca Ancarola está marcada por su versatilidad musical en la que combina la riqueza del folclor sudamericano con los colores y estructuras propias del jazz. Francesca ha cantado en eventos y festivales de música entre los que destacan el Festival de Jazz de Ouro Preto, el Festival de Jazz de Lisboa, la gira junto a su banda por los pirineos franceses en el Festival CulturAmerica de Pau, El Festival Americanto de Mendoza y el Festival Folclórico de la Patagonia.
En su larga discografía destaca Lonquén (2006) se transformó un hito en su carrera. La placa traía versiones sobrecogedoras del cantautor chileno Víctor Jara y tuvo una recepción más que favorable y celebratoria en Chile que le valió la entrega del premio Altazor al mejor álbum de música alternativa chilena, además del reconocimiento a nivel internacional. También dio que hablar Arrullos (2009), el cual grabó con Carlos Aguirre, y que reúne canciones relacionadas con la infancia de autores latinoamericanos tales como Daniel Viglietti, Eliseo Grenet y Jorge Fandermole, entre otros. Con Templanza (2012) volvió a sus propias composiciones y una inclinación más evidente hacia el jazz.

Singer songrwriter Francesca Ancarola is very versatile musically speaking. In her songs can be found the richness of South American folk mixed with complex jazz structures and tones. She has performed in various music festivals over the years, including the Festival de Jazz de Ouro Preto, Festival de Jazz de Lisboa, Festival Americanto de Mendoza, Festival Folclórico de la Patagonia and the Festival Cultur America de Pau, which included a tour with her band around the French Pyrenees.
The emotional album of Victor Jara covers Lonquén (2006) became a pivotal record in Francesca’s discography. The album received a favorable and celebratory reception, and won the Altazor Award from Chile in the “Best Alternative Music Album” category, there after gaining larger international attention. Three years later she released Arrullos (Lullabies, 2009) recorded with Carlos Aguirre and composed entirely of childhood songs from Latin American singer songwriters, like Daniel Viglietti, Eliseo Grenet y Jorge Fandermole, among others. Templaza (Temperance, 2012) is her last album. This time with her own compositions that shows a clearer inclination toward jazz.

«The popularity of The Floripondio had to bear fruit in their land.
Near Villa Alemana, in the town of Quilpué (V region), a new ska band was formed in 2000 called Sonora de Llegar. Making a group of demos, which they called Demole, was their first release the following year. They subsequently gigged a lot in Valparaíso and the surrounding area, and their sound became solid. In 2005 they composed the song Manifiesta that won Escuelas the Rock, a Chilean rock band contest.
They were then signed to the record label Sello Azul and were invited to Vive Latino, an international festival that took place in Santiago, in 2007. Their debut album Sonora de Llegar was produced by Macha (Aldo Asenjo from La Floripondio and Chico Trujillo) in Berlin.
Sonora de Llegar was part of a party scene dominated by cumbia rhythm, so their next CD was a mix of styles. On Fiesta Primate they pass from ska to cumbia; from rock to surf, and there’s even a tribute track included with “Visión de Otoño”, a song from the most popular band from Valparaíso during the sixties, Los Blue Splendor.
In their last record, Sesión jamaikismo (2012), Sonora de Llegar took classic ska songs and did versions of them in Spanish.

El grupo Solar se formó en el verano de 1994. Integrado por Alejandro Gómez, José Domínguez, Ricardo Contesse y Javier Pañella. Un año más tarde se uniría Claudio Olguín en batería y comenzarían a ensayar sus primeras composiciones, surgidas de tardes enteras experimentando con sonidos y aprendiendo de armonía y acordes en el proceso.

En 1995 comenzaron a tocar en vivo en clubes como La Batuta y Rockola. El boca en boca fue dándolos a conocer como un grupo joven, ambicioso y de buen sonido en vivo producto de la ética y la estética que el grupo ejercía, con referentes británicos como The Beatles, The House of Love, The Jesus and Mary Chain, The Church, XTC, Love and Rockets, The Verve, Echo & the Bunnymen y David Bowie.

En 1996, luego de grabar una serie de demos para EMI, finalmente firmaron un contrato para BMG, agregando una serie de presentaciones en vivo que los consolidó como una promesa del rock chileno de la época. El primer single oficial del grupo fue Medícame (1996), parte del EP del mismo nombre. El sonido del grupo, asociado a la corriente del shoegaze, fue evolucionando hacia la composición de canciones y la búsqueda de un productor que potenciara su música.

A fines del año 1996, BMG decide contratar al productor e ingeniero en sonido inglés Barry Sage, de vasta trayectoria en la escena inglesa, con trabajos para The Rolling Stones, New Order, Kitchens of Distinction, entre otros. Play (1997) fue grabado entre el 1 y 12 de enero de 1997 en Santiago de Chile y mezclado entre el 1 y 15 de febrero del mismo año en Londres, Inglaterra.

Las canciones Por Costumbre y Lo Que Eres fueron los singles escogidos para promocionar el disco. Ambas canciones rotaron ampliamente y hoy forman parte del repertorio clásico del rock/pop chileno de los años noventa. Se escuchan en radios locales hasta hoy en día.

Ignorado por la crítica especializada de la época y reconocido por las generaciones más jóvenes, el álbum Play cumple 20 años este 2017 y la banda lo celebra con el lanzamiento de un nuevo disco doble titulado Play/Replay (2017) en portales de streaming de internet, más un show en vivo, para el que el grupo se reunió especialmente y volvió a tocar esas canciones para seguidores y aquellos más jóvenes que no vieron a Solar en vivo en los «locos» años noventa.

Play/Replay: Edición Especial Vigésimo Aniversario, disponible desde el 28 de Julio de 2017 en edición especial digital, incluye una edición especial de Play con mucho material bonus en vivo, maquetas originales y otros temas no incluidos en el disco original.
